Examiner questions could be things like:

- When would you wash your hands?
Before and after every clinical encounter and before and after you touch patients etc.

- When would you use soap over alcohol?
When in contact with bacteria that cause diarrhoea (e.g. klebsiella/c difficile) or when hands are visibly soiled

- What is the appropriate bin for X?
Knowing when to use orange clinical waste bin, yellow sharps bin and black waste bin (domestic waste).

- What should you do when you receive a sharps injury?
Encourage it to bleed and wash it with water. If possible to find patient from which blood came from, ask them their consent to test their blood for blood borne viruses. If during hours, go immediately to Occupational Health. Otherwise, out of hours, go to A&E.
